It’s a mad world! Last night a girlfriend (that I haven’t seen in ages) and I went out for dinner at a tiny local restaurant in Toronto. We do this a couple of times a year and usually spend a few hours and a couple of hundred dollars getting caught up, drinking wine and eating and being merry. For the first time ever, we were asked to hurry along our meal because there was a line up at the door. We had been there for about an hour, what is with the customer service? we hadn’t even finished our meal yet… I find this kind of thing quite offensive. I hear it’s becoming a new trend with some busy restaurants, they want to get people coming and going to make the most money, I understand this, but after a week of working, people want to be served a good meal and relax which is why we go out in the first place, being rushed out takes away the pleasure of dining out. Next time, we’ll go to St. Lawrence market, buy some great stuff for dinner, get some great wine at a third of restaurant price and stay in!

Wow that’s really a bummer! Some friends and I had a similar experience at a restaurant in Streetsville once. We were a table of 6 and wanted to take our time ordering, planning to spend the evening sampling and drinking sangria. We were rushed out just like you! That was more than 2 years ago and I’ve never returned. And when anyone asks me why I never go there before I tell them.
