Skin absorption

It always amazes me when people within the medical industry close their minds to natural remedies. Today, a woman came into the shop and when I started to educate her about the healing properties of essential oils she completely shut me down and said that a cream can not be healing. She explained that she was a dietitian, regulated by the medical board and she follows their guidelines. That is fine, I have no problem with that but when I asked her.. is the skin not an organ…her reply was I guess so. Well, it’s the largest organ of the body, it has the ability to absorb what is put onto it and it brings these substances into the body, the blood picks up the molecules and distributes them to the internal organs. Does that not make sense? It’s all about what we ingest, what the body takes in, through air, through your mouth and your skin. So… open your mind to other possibilities… there is a reason why natural remedies are the choice of so many people! Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!

    Huh?

I was taught in Elementary School biology that the skin is our largest organ.

Veterinarians prescribe creams to put on our pets that are absorbed through the skin to keep fleas at bay for months at a time.

Doctors prescribe nicotine patches and morphine patches and hormone patches that are all absorbed through our skin.

It is odd that someone who says they have a medical background would think that medicine and other things can not be absorbed by our skin.

I love your product. The smells make me happy. My skin is smooth and soft.

Maybe the essential oils help in other ways as well. Our ancestors used all manner of plants to make cures, and scientist today are looking for cures in places like tropical rain forests and oceans and deserts. Just because they take what the find and make it synthetic and bottle it for cash doesn’t mean the original plants can’t have healing properties themselves.

I think of bodyFood as a complimentary treatment. Cinnamon is suppose to be helpful to people with diabetes, but I would never suggest that a diabetic skip the insulin for some cinnamon bodyFood lotion. I would however suggest they go ahead and use both. Maybe it will help regulate the sugar levels in their blood… but I know they will smell yummy and have soft smooth skin for sure!

  2. Somehow i missed the point. Probably lost in translation :) Anyway … nice blog to visit.

    cheers, Illusionistic!!
