Real Life at the bodyFood Bar!

Can it be that I’ve not blogged since January?  Where does the time go?…  the older we get the more we feel that life is passing us by and our goals often seem to be further and further away.  Both my children have left home, one is in University and the other is sharing a house with others and looking for work.   Business was picking up nicely inspite of the talk of recession and then in June I seem to have hit a wall.  Things have begun to pick up again in July and I find myself coasting through August.   September will keep me busy I’m sure as I’ve already booked a speaking engagement at Vic Johnson Arena on the 22nd to a group of 200 or so women.   October brings two back to back workshops at the Old Mill and then I’ll be mixing away for the Holiday season.  I’ve already had requests for bath bombs, they really are an aromatic treat.

Once again, surrounding myself with luxurious aromatherapy, has helped take the edge off of the stresses that life brings.  Good friends, family and wine certainly help!, and I must admit to loving the weather..even the thunderstorms have been lovely!  I’ve heard of a few tragic cases amongst friends and acquaintances which makes me think about enjoying life to the fullest.  Little things that bring pleasure to ones life are so important.

We must remember not to sweat the small stuff and enjoy each and every day.

Coasting through tough times

These days everyone seems to be on edge.  For retailers, January is usually slow and maybe more so this year with job cuts and everyone being mindful of the economic situation.  At times like these, it is important to do little things to keep yourself happy.  Join a friend at a coffee bar and treat yourselves to some good conversation and coffee/herbal tea.  Go the that pastry shop, and indulge in a special cookie, take the time for a bubble bath, and pamper yourself.  Little things that you do, can work wonders for stress.  Networking, meeting with friends, going to the local pub for a pint, not only do you feel good, it helps to keep the economic flow going.  Stress only makes one ill, so be nice to yourself and you’ll sail through these tough times.

bodyFood-luxury body care-recession proof

In tough times, it is necessary to limit spending, become more frugal and not waste.  We will still continue to spend money but will people make a shift and spend on quality items.  I feel quite confidant that what will be most affected are frivilous, low end items that end up in the waste anyway.  People will still use lotion, shampoo, wash etc. and what better time to treat yourself to an affordable, high end product that delivers a true aromatherapy treatment every time?  So far, I’ve been lucky because although my clients are conciencious of the economy, they don’t seem to compromise their basic body care needs.  This makes sense because why put toxins into your body because the financial world is unsteady?  We should continue to take care of our basic needs in a healthy natural way that gives us pleasure.  A big bodyFood bonus is that aromatherapy is extremely beneficial in it’s calming, relaxing and stress relieving properties.  Who couldn’t use a bit of stress relief and do something wonderful for themselves every day?

Quality Natural Products

One of the  guarantees with the bodyFood line is that you are getting a top notch natural product that delivers what it claims.  There are so many “natural” product lines that are manufactured in places like China, and are filled with low grade ingredients.  That is why people have reactions to them.  Our skin is literally starved for natural healthy ingredients.  The skin is an organ that absorbs what is on it..similar to a sponge, so why put a bunch of synthetic chemicals on it?  In Europe, people are opening products at the cosmetic counters and leaving the packaging behind,  a statement is being made…cut the waste!  bodyFood bags are biodegradable, and all of the products are Made in Canada.  If you want to get the biggest bang for your buck… treat yourself to nature’s best ingredients…in bodyFood products.  You will look and feel better…naturally!

Restaurant Stress

It’s a mad world!  Last night a girlfriend (that I haven’t seen in ages) and I went out for dinner at a tiny local restaurant in Toronto.  We do this a couple of times a year and usually spend a few hours and a couple of hundred dollars getting caught up, drinking wine and eating and being merry.  For the first time ever, we were asked to hurry along our meal because there was a line up at the door.  We had been there for about an hour, what is with the customer service?  we hadn’t even finished our meal yet… I find this kind of thing quite offensive.   I hear it’s becoming a new trend with some busy restaurants, they want to get people coming and going to make the most money, I understand this, but after a week of working, people want to be served a good meal and relax which is why we go out in the first place, being rushed out takes away the  pleasure of dining out.  Next time, we’ll go to St. Lawrence market, buy some great stuff for dinner, get some great wine at a third of restaurant price and stay in!

Babies and natural body care

Recently, I’ve been asked about creating a baby line.  Lavender essential oil is great for infant and baby products but the concentration should be half the strength that is normally used.  Chamomile is another wonderful essential oil, a light herbal scent that is safe for infants and children.  Really, no other oils should be used.  The baby powder scented items are really just toxic chemicals that can lead to infertility in both males and females…irritate the skin and are basically unhealthy.  Making the switch to real aromatherapy is probably one of the best things you can do for yourself and loved ones.   There are a lot of good things associated with essential oils and they are worth the money.  Yes… soon there will be a bodyFood Baby line! … stay tuned!

bodyFood Custom Blended Luxury

Having a natural product custom blended with pure essential oils! Does it get any better than that? I’ve created this line because as individuals we all have different tastes and gravitate to various scents. Aromatherapy incorporated in a natural body care product is the ultimate luxury in body care. You literally can bring the spa into your home and create a beautiful aromatic environment, plus, it’s an incredibly healthy choice. There is so much on the market, the choices are vast, but at the bodyfood bar you can have exactly what you want made. You deserve a little luxury in your life on a daily basis and that is why bodyFood was created.

Aromatherapy is for every one

Aromatherapy and the use of essential oils are all part of the “green” body care wave. Using them properly is a must! Men love aromatherapy, surprisingly, guys say they aren’t into body care and that girlie stuff but then they use up all the bodyFood products in the house. True aromatherapy can be used on anyone at any age, you don’t have to be sick. The essential oils help to balance the body/mind/soul…truly.

Skin absorption

It always amazes me when people within the medical industry close their minds to natural remedies. Today, a woman came into the shop and when I started to educate her about the healing properties of essential oils she completely shut me down and said that a cream can not be healing. She explained that she was a dietitian, regulated by the medical board and she follows their guidelines. That is fine, I have no problem with that but when I asked her.. is the skin not an organ…her reply was I guess so. Well, it’s the largest organ of the body, it has the ability to absorb what is put onto it and it brings these substances into the body, the blood picks up the molecules and distributes them to the internal organs. Does that not make sense? It’s all about what we ingest, what the body takes in, through air, through your mouth and your skin. So… open your mind to other possibilities… there is a reason why natural remedies are the choice of so many people! Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!
