Washing your mouth out with soap day # 4

Well.. day 4 of brushing my teeth with soap and I am getting used to the taste, it isn’t half as bad as when I first started and the best thing is that I am seriously noticing that there is hardly any plaque build up on my gums and teeth.  This is huge!  I find the older I get the more plaque build up there has been and for the first time in years, my teeth feel really clean.

A whole new meaning to washing your mouth out with soap!

On Friday the 4th of Feb. Jim…a client that has an interest in alternative therapies came into the shop and told me that he read an article about using soap to brush your teeth with instead of toothpaste. Says the Dr. that wrote the article that if we rinsed our mouths out quickly we’d get rid of the acid that causes cavities to form on the teeth and that brushing with soap is more beneficial than using toothpaste that is filled with glycerin. Well…Jim says his mouth feels cleaner and that he feels there is definitely less plaque build up and he’s been doing this for a week or so. Me being me.. I’ve promised to try it for 10 days. The first day I used my bayleaf /grapefruit soap…. tasted like soap, not pleasant but nothing I can’t handle. After the second day, I decided to switch to the fennel flavored soap …seeing as how it tastes like licorice I thought I’d like it more. I suppose it’s an aquired taste! Tomorrow is day three… and I’m thinking that maybe I’m not rinsing my mouth with enough water.. stay tuned! Here’s a link to the post! http://tinyurl.com/6khapec

Feeling Good in February !

Today a gentleman came into the shop to purchase some pure essential oils.  Tells me that since I told him how to use the oils correctly…dissolved in epsom salts and then put into the bath… he has never taken as many baths in his life as he does now.  Says his body feels great, his place smells amazing, and he always feels happy!   This is my contribution to making the world a better place!

January Exhaustion

Is it only me?   Lately I’ve felt exhausted!  I think the December 7 working days per week totally did me in!   so far this month I’ve taken a few trips to Kingston to move my daughter into a new apt.  and I’ve tried to get the house back on track after the kids (which are now adults) have gone back to their respective homes.    Really… it’s my son and his friends that leave a trail behind..anyway… I’m tired and my favorite thing to do..is have an aromatherapy bubble bath!  Patchouli is the scent of choice for me in the winter…I love it.. the earthy scent totally grounds me, and I squirt some body oil into the tub for a totally moisturizing experience.    I guess it’s not as therapeutic as a vacation… but it’s pretty good for a second choice!  I guess getting off the chocolate would help with the carb crash thing… but this holiday season has put me into a place where I feel like having a sweet every day, and I’m at that age when I don’t want to deny myself anything.  …  sigh…  I may have to take a few consecutive days off of work to recuperate!

Natural Remedies for skin conditions

The reason that bodyFood products work so well is because the ingredients that the products are made with promote the skin to heal and balance itself in a gentle non-invasive way.  This supports the natural function of the skin and allows the skin to breath and to reach a balance which is the best thing you can do for your skin in the long range, no matter what your age or gender.  Botanical extracts are very close in molecular structure to the skins which is why they easily penetrate the skin and promote healing.

Essential oils for the Holiday Season!

My favorite is the orange cinnamon and clove blend.. smells just like Christmas and puts me in a good mood!   the white grapefruit is also great !  I usually decorate the house at the beginning of December but seeing as I have a cookie exchang on Nov. 30th and must bake away this coming weekend…I think I’ll plug in the outdoor lights or do something festive!  (other than drink rum and eggnog)..  I do like listening to Christmas Carols on the radio but my all time favorite is listening to Zoomers 96.3 classical music.. especially during the holiday season!

Aromatherapy General

So… above me here at liberty village … is a huge pipe that I’m pretty sure by the smell… sewage runs through.  My little diffuser is continually challenged to mask the smell, and it does a super job but I’m not at all convinced that the smell of sewage can truly be disguised!  The management has to drain the pipe and then the smell is gone until things build up again.. about 6 months time.  Thank goodness the mississauga location smells fantastic all of the time!

Fall Aromatherapy!

Lavender seems to be making a big come back.  I must admit that it was never one of my favorites but it is growing on me!  I find I am loving the scent and have actually started using the Lavender shampoo for the first time.. usually it’s something with Patchouli in it!  Lavender is known to have sedative qualities… is this why I’m in bed by 10pm every night?  or is it the fall weather?  I’ve been baking lots of apples with cinnamon these days, and I’ve made an orange cinnamon soap … now.. the comeback of the orange cinammon lotion!  a perfect hostess gift for the Holiday season!

Raccoons and Aromatherapy

The smell is good!

Ok.. so my friends, I’m sure, are tired of me going on about the raccoon that got into my house last week…but… I don’t know if they realize that raccoons have anal glands that they use to mark their territory and it sort of smells like a musky skunky sort of smell.  Well.. this raccoon got into a space that is between the  basement ceiling and living room floor and rubbed it’s arse all over the place leaving behind a nasty smell in my otherwise lovely smelling home.  Every day I have not one but two aromatherapy diffusers going in the basement with every oil that I have to try and get rid of the smell.  Finally… a week later it is dissipating… guests tell me that they can’t smell it and that my house smells great but I can smell it..I don’t think it’s a hallucination!  My nose is quite keen!  It is definitely going away…but wow… that was intense!  I admit to bleaching the place down before I started with the essential oils and still it’ been a chore!  Windows open all of the time as well.  Lesson learned….. keep your cat door locked at night!   Cheers to all!
